Knitwear Industry Expertise
Since being awarded the Royal Society of Arts’ Young Designer into Industry Award, on graduation, Claire has been involved with the creation of innovative & conceptual knitwear design & knitwear collections across many sectors of the knitwear industry. In this time, Claire has gained valuable knowledge of knitwear manufacturing routes, with trend-led stitch swatch development & sweater development spanning over 35 years in the industry. She now has an established & thriving knitwear design studio, designing for the knitwear industry & has helped individual brands & students alike realise their collections from pattern cutting to final prototypes via state-of-the-art 3D CAD simulations & physical sampling on semi-industrial & industrial knitting machines based in her studio.
Claire has sold knit concept designs to fashion houses across the globe, such as Oscar de la Renta, Moschino, Maje Paris & high street retailers such as Gap & River Island.

Studio Based Knitting Machinery & CAD Facility
Within the Claire Newberry design studio, we can design & create complete ranges of knitwear for your company. We design for women’s knitwear, men’s knitwear, children’s knitwear, knitted fabrics for interiors & knit student’s collections.
Claire has specialist CAD software linked to a range of computerised knitting machinery, enabling her to design a range of beautiful knitwear design ideas for your company from mood boards, trend boards, to graphed designs, CAD simulations, to final prototype garments or swatches. We can create tech packs & liaise with your factories too.

Knitted Swatch Development & Archive
Claire can quickly turn around knitted swatch designs for sketch & swatch meetings to facilitate & realise new design concepts to show your customer base. This could be highly realistic virtual or physical knitted concepts handle swatches.
Claire is constantly updating the knitted swatch design library, which enables customers to perceive & visualise new knitwear design concepts. Customers can visit the studio by appointment to browse the extensive range of library swatches at their leisure, whilst also browsing the extensive range of knitting literature, old & new.
